hardware requirements for egress™ software

Viator Network's Egress™ Server software was designed and engineered on Intel-based Pentium III and IV hardware. All of the code has been optimized for those processors, so you will get the best performance using them. It may NOT perform as well or load successfully on Pentium or Pentium II systems.

Minimal OEM Hardware Configuration

Below are the minimum hardware configurations for every system on which you install the Egress™ Server software:

  • Genuine Intel Pentium III Processor or better, (Pentium IV, Xeon or equivalent preferred)
  • 512 MB RAM (1GB or more preferred)
  • Two Red Hat Linux-supported 10/100 NIC cards
  • one 20GB IDE or SCSI hard drive or greater
  • Server-class motherboard

Viator Networks uses Dell™ hardware as its hardware of choice. Not that we're trying to discourage you from buying the CD, mind you. But if you do buy the hardware version, you'll be saving a lot of time, you'll know everything works out of the box and it will literally take 30 minutes before you're up and running.

Important Notice

On build-your-own systems, Viator Networks does NOT provide software support on non-standard hardware configurations. If you would like us to support your hardware configuration, you must:

  • Ship to us at your expense a system for testing and certification
  • Alert Viator of any hardware change and send new systems with the new configuration for recertification
  • Sign an OEM agreement

Software Options

All Viator servers can be enhanced with additional software packages such as Voice Over IP (VOIP), Internet Fax, and video-on-demand. Customers also have the option of having custom enhancements built into the core system.

We are willing to compile versions using hardware or any other software (e.g., portals, billing software, etc.) you specify for a fee. If you're interested, call our sales office and we can discuss your needs and prepare a quotation.
